Explosion Box

Explosion box

This is a fun 3D project that makes a wonderful piece for yourself or as a special gift on a special occasion. This project is so easy once you make one--you will be making so many! The ideas to jazz it up are endless. Let the creating begin!!!

1--With a 12 x 12 piece of Whisper White Cardstock, score at 3in-6in---turn and repeat on all sides---You will be left with a 12 in piece that has 9--4 in squares. (set aside)

2--With another 12 x 12 piece of Whisper White---cut into a 10 in square--score at 3-1/2 in, turn & score all around (set aside)

3--With an 8-1/2 x 11 piece of Whisper White Card stock, cut a 6 x 6 in square. Take a scrap piece of card stock and fold in half. Use the scrap to make a "shim" Place the shim to the left edge of your score board. Align your 6 x 6 piece of card stock next to the Shim. Using a Shim adds "just enough" space so the lid will fit on your box after you add additional layers. Score at 5-1/8 in, turn and repeat all the way around.
Burnish well all 3 of the cut Whisper White Pieces

4--Cut 18--pieces of Daffodil Delight card stock at 3-3/4 in x 3-3/4 in (set aside)

5--Cut 2 pieces of Daffodil Delight at 4 in

6--Cut 8 pieces of Daffodil Delight at 3/4 in x 3-7/8 in

7--Cut 8 pieces of DSP at 1/2 in x 3-5/8 in

8--Cut 18--pieces of DSP at 3-1/2 in x 3-1/2 in

9--Cut 2--pieces of Daffodil Delight card stock at 2-3/4 x 2-3/4 in

10--Cut 2--pieces of DSP at 2-1/2 x 2-1/2

11--Cut 8 pieces of Daffodil Delight 2-3/4 x 3-1/4 in

12--Cut 8 pieces of DSP at 2-1/2 x 3 in

1--Using your largest 12 x 12 scored piece--- and starting with the right lower outer square--draw a line from the top left corner of the square to the lower left corner of that square. Turn and repeat the process on all 4 corners. Carefully cut from the bottom right corner up to the left top corner. You are now able to fold to the left the triangle--you may cut off the other piece. Repeat process to the remaining squares. You should have what looks like a "pinwheel"

2--With the 10 x 10 in piece of Whisper White, cut off the four outer corners---you should have what looks like a "cross"

3---With the 6 x 6 piece of Whisper white, and looking a the 4 outer corners, cut the right short scoreline up to the center square scoreline---do this only on 1 side and on all 4 corners.

5--Starting with the largest 12 x 12 Whisper White Card stock, and starting with the solid Daffodil Delight card stock, layer first the solid color and top with the DSP on all 4 squares on both sides.

6--With the 4 triangles on the corner---cut 2 Daffodil Delight pieces (3-3/4 x 3-3/4) as well as 2 DSP (3-1/2 x 3-1/2) into triangles---You should have 4 of each size. Trim each triangle down 1/4 in---layer the triangles with the DSP over the solid color card stock and apply to the triangle corners on both sides.

7--Do the same on the 10 x 10 piece on all 4 squares---complete on both sides using the 2-3/4 x 2-3/4 for the center along with the 2-1/2 & 2-1/2 --- the other block layers measure 2-3/4 x 3-1/4 for the solid card stock and 2-1/2 x 3 for the DSP.

8--With your 6 x 6 in Whisper White---apply the DSP - 3-3/4 x 3-3/4 to the 4 in solid Card stock and apply to the top of the sheet and the inside.

1---On your large 12 x 12 piece, Fold your triangle corners to the left and using your Multipurpose glue, apply a small amount on the bottom of the square and fold the triangle over---hold until it adheres---this will form your pocket.----Complete on all 4 sides.

2---With your 6 x 6 in piece of Whisper White card stock, fold the edges of the lid up and with some Multipurpose glue, turn the cut tab to the inside of the adjoining edge--Hold until it adheres---Do the same on the other 3 sides.

3--You may now attach your side pieces, inside and out---layer the Strips of DSP over the solid Card stock and apply.
